Navigating the AI Storm: Strategies for Educators

Since its unanticipated release in November 2022, generative AI, including tools like ChatGPT, has had a significant impact on the educational landscape. Introduced without concern for its societal or educational effects, this technology has presented numerous challenges for teaching. This presentation will explore the current influence of AI on education, specifically its effects on entry-level STEM courses, and discuss possible strategies for navigating these challenges. The session is designed for a general audience; no prior experience with AI is necessary. We will be incorporating some interactive polling, so please bring a smartphone or WiFi-enabled laptop to participate.
